About Accelerated Reader at KISQ

KISQ is participates in the AR (Accelerated Reader) book program.  Students take reading comprehension quizzes on KISQ computers in the library that are connected to the AR computers in America.  The AR program is on the internet, so students can also take quizzes at home or on an iPad/iPod/iPhone.  On AR there are also vocabulary quizzes for many books.  After students pass a reading quiz, they can check if their book has a vocabulary quiz.  If the students pass that test also, they can get bonus points!  When students pass a test, the computer will print out a paper for the teacher or parent to sign.  That paper will tell the name of the book, how many questions the student got right, and how many points the student has earned for the whole year.  Students can put all of their passing certificates in a book to keep and help remember which books they read.  A book quiz may only be taken once, so students need to read it well and do a good job writing their book report.  When students do not pass their tests, they should choose a new book that is easier.  Our library has hundreds of new interesting books to read.

Taking AR Quizzes at Home

If students wish to take a quiz at home on their own web-connected computers or iOS device, they may do so under a few conditions:

  1. Students must take the quiz by themselves without outside help from parents. 테스트 할 때 학생은 부모님한테 도움 받지 않고 혼자 완성 해야 한다.
  2. Students MUST first finish their book report before taking a quiz.  테스트 보기 전에는 책 독해 보고를 먼저 완성 해야 한다.
  3. Students must be supervised by a parent/adult while taking a quiz. 테스트 볼 때 부모님의 감독이 필요하다.
  4. Students are NOT allowed to look at dictionaries or their books while taking a quiz. 테스트 볼 때 사전이나 책을 이용 할 수 없다.

There are many AR quizzes for books we do not have in the library.  Maybe some of the English books students have at home also have AR tests.  Students can always type in the name of the book and look for themselves after they log in to the webpage.

Allowing students to take tests at home also opens up the opportunity for students to take advantage of the system.  If any student is found to be unfairly taking tests at home or not following the guidelines, they can be BANNED and ERASED from the AR program.  Please be responsible.  I hope this system encourages an interest in reading among our students.
