This is our first of several nonfiction units, and this one is paired up with social studies. Students will each pick a country to research and prepare a persuasive essay to convince someone to visit their country. Students learn all of the different text features to help them better understand what they read as they are researching. While reading, students learn to take notes, organize their notes, and write a structured and formal essay. Students will next create some sort of tourism project such as a brochure or video to help entice their audience.
